Metropolitan Atlanta's Most Experienced Emergency and Critical Care Veterinarians
Animal Emergency Center of North Fulton (AECNF) was established in December of 1991 by area veterinarians. The goal was to provide
a much-needed emergency and critical care service to pets during nights, weekends, and holidays when primary care veterinarians are
usually closed.
In March 2002, Dr. Byron Hawkins and Dr. Gerald FitzGerald purchased Animal Emergency Center of North
Fulton. Prior to purchasing AECNF, both had spent their entire careers working in emergency and critical care medicine.
Their mission has been to work closely with your primary care veterinarian to provide your pet state of the art medical care 24 hours
a day, 365 days a year.
We are open from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and Noon Saturday to 8:00 a.m. Monday
morning. We are open 24 hours on all major holidays. These hours combined with your primary care veterinarians clinic
hours should provide you with a place to go whenever your pet needs veterinary care.
Dr. Hawkins and Dr. FitzGerald
have assembled an outstanding emergency and critical care team. The team consists of veterinarians, veterinary technicians,
veterinary assistants and clinic support staff. Our doctors and technicians are members of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical
Care Society. All staff members continue to learn, and stay current on the latest in state of the art veterinary care through
continuing education seminars, online services, and educational periodicals.
Excellent care requires both a highly trained
staff and extensive equipment. Our clinic is fully equipped with the ability to perform in-house labwork (Complete blood count,
chemistry profile, clotting times, urinalysis, fecal analysis, Parvo Test, FeLV/FIV, Ethylene Glycol, cytology, etc.), x-rays, ultrasound,
ECG and blood pressure monitoring, oxygen administration, fluid administration pumps, syringe pumps, immediate access to blood products
(packed red blood cells and fresh frozen plasma), etc.
